Meskel: Ethiopia's Radiant Festival of the True Cross

Meskel , also known as Ethiopian Cross Day , is one of the most vibrant and significant annual religious holidays in Ethiopia and Eritrea . Celebrated primarily by the Orthodox Tewahedo Church , the festival commemorates the discovery of the True Cross upon which Jesus Christ was crucified, with its roots tracing back to the 4th century.
